Moroğlu Arseven and Individual Team Members Recognized in Chambers & Partners Europe 2016 Rankings

Moroğlu Arseven has been ranked in Band 2 for Intellectual Property by Chambers & Partners in its 2016 Europe Edition. In addition, the firm receives awards in 2016 for its work in Telecommunications, Media, and Technology, Corporate and M&A, as well as in Dispute Resolution. Seven of the firm’s Partners are singled out for individual recognition across a range of practice areas, including: Işık Özdoğan, E. Seyfi Moroğlu, Benan Arseven, Burcu Tuzcu Ersin, Orçun Çetinkaya, Gokçe İzgi and Ezgi Baklacı.

Awards for four key practice areas

In 2016, Moroğlu Arseven continues to be recognized in Band 2 for Intellectual Property. One client commented that the “lawyers are internationally trained so understand the issues and concerns of foreign clients, and are responsive in providing good technical and practical advice.” Another intellectual property client commented that “Our experience has been very good – we are pleased with the team’s approach.

Chambers & Partners ranks the firm in Band 3 for Telecommunications, Media, and Technology, with one client noting that the Moroğlu Arseven’s key strengths in this practice area are “its responsiveness and knowledge.”

Chambers & Partners ranks the firm in Band 4 for Corporate and M&A work, with one client commenting that “This firm is focused on the interests of the client, and is proactive in addressing potential issues. Seven team members receive Individual recognition

Işık Özdoğan, LL.M., leading Moroğlu Arseven’s intellectual property practice, receives top recognition and continues to be personally ranked in Band 1 for Intellectual Property in Turkey for the third year in a row. Clients commented that Işık is “calm, reassuring and confident. She’s a solid force to help you with difficult situations.” Another client commented that Işık is “clear and straight to the point. She is knowledgeable about our expectations and business-oriented when finding solutions.”

Dr. E. Seyfi Moroğlu, LL.M., maintains his ranking in Band 4 for Corporate and M&A matters in Turkey. Chambers & Partners particularly noted his experience in transactional, corporate support and shareholder dispute matters. Clients commented to Chambers & Partners that Seyfi is “a very strong lawyer and brilliant in negotiations – he can balance the commercial aspects of a transaction with the often complicated legal side.

Seyfi continues to be ranked in Band 3 for TMT in Turkey. The researchers noted that he “regularly assists clients with cross-border mergers, competition regulatory compliance and contractual matters in the TMT sector, acting for major Turkish and international clients.”

Seyfi is specifically recognized for his foreign expertise, with Chambers & Partners noting that he is “renowned for his knowledge of German law and his German language capabilities.” He continues to be ranked as a Foreign Expert in relation to German law, as well as be recognized in Chambers & Partners’ recent rankings of German law firms and practitioners, where he is noted as an Expert Based Abroad.

Burcu Tuzcu Ersin LL.M., maintains her ranking in Band 4 for Corporate and M&A matters in Turkey. Chambers & Partners noted her extensive work with start-ups, angel investors and venture capital clients on corporate issues associated with newly established and growing companies, along with Turkish conglomerates in regard to high-value acquisitions and general corporate matters. According to clients, Burcu is “dedicated, and if she promises something then you can trust her to deliver. She has an in-depth understanding of what we need and what we are looking for, and makes sure to cover all of these bases.

Orçun Çetinkaya, LL.M. maintains his ranking in Band 4 for Dispute Resolution matters in Turkey. Chambers & Partners noted that Orçun now heads the dispute resolution team, “bringing with him extensive experience of international arbitration and litigation proceedings.” It noted that clients seek Orçun’s advice on a broad range of cases, including corporate, white-collar crime and administrative disputes, with one client commenting that Orçun is “a very safe pair of hands.”

Gökçe İzgi, LL.M., is noted again by Chambers & Partners as Up and Coming for her work in Intellectual Property. Chambers & Partners noted that Gökçe “advises international clients on the management of their IP portfolios, including the seizure of counterfeit products. She is also active in prosecuting trade mark and patents, and knowledgeable of unfair competition, design, copyright and domain names.” The researchers note that Gökçe’s clients appreciate her “responsive and clear advice” on a wide range of issues.

Ezgi Baklacı, LL.M., is noted by Chambers & Partners as Up and Coming for her work in Intellectual Property. Clients commented that Ezgi has “extensive knowledge and understanding of trade mark law, with a desire to find sensible and practical solutions.”

Benan Arseven is noted as a specialist in Corporate and M&A matters at the firm.
