Moroğlu Arseven is pleased to announce that Orçun Çetinkaya is joining the firm as Partner, effective from 1 June 2015. The firm’s Partners collectively welcome Orçun, noting that his demonstrated expertise and industry recognition in all aspects of local and cross-border dispute resolution will significantly increase the firm’s existing capabilities in these areas. The firm wishes Orçun a long and prosperous career.

Orçun’s work includes all aspects of disputes and corporate law matters. He regularly supports both local and foreign clients during cross-border disputes and debts, often involving high values or complex liability issues. Orçun advises clients on a broad range of issues including contractual claims, shareholder and partnership issues, joint ventures, construction, real estate, agency, professional negligence and employment matters, as well as administrative issues, tax disputes, customs, international trade and business crimes. During his career, Orçun has advised and represented clients at all types and levels of dispute resolution forum in Turkey, from local ad-hoc arbitrations and tribunals through to supreme courts.

Orçun is recognized as a leading disputes and corporate lawyer by both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500, with past clients describing him as a “highly effective court advocate”, as well as someone who “gets the job done”. In 2014, Chambers & Partners recommended Orçun for his work in commercial dispute resolution, while The Legal 500 noted him as a “Rising Star”. He has been consistently recognized by Whos Who Legal since 2012 as a leading individual in Turkey for litigation and arbitration-related work, noting that he is “among the top names” for business crime defense, as well as a “superb lawyer and formidable opponent”.

Prior to joining Moroğlu Arseven, Orçun worked for eleven years at a prominent Istanbul law firm, including more than two years as a Partner. During his career, Orçun has worked for extended periods in London. Orçun regularly publishes articles and jurisdictional chapters for major legal publishers regarding dispute resolution and corporate issues. He is also the co-editor of first exclusively English language law journal in Turkey, The Turkish Commercial Law Review. Orçun is a regular speaker at conferences and industry forums around the world. 

Orçun has been a member of the Istanbul Bar Association since 2004.  He is a member of the International Bar Association, American Bar Association, European Criminal Bar Association, and London Court of International Arbitration. He graduated from Ankara University Law School in 2002 and received an LL.M from the University of Nottingham in 2007.
