Melis focuses on intellectual property, assisting clients to protect and enforce their industrial property rights in Turkey. She supports clients to deal with disputes related to trademarks, geographical indications, designs and unfair competition issues, including settlement and litigation procedures, along with protecting the presence of geographical indications. Melis also helps with intellectual property portfolio management issues.
Melis assists well known global clients and brands with a full range of legal processes before the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, as well as disputes before Turkish courts and is involved in settlement processes at pre-trial and litigation stages.
She has also experience supporting foreign clients to deal with counterfeiting issues in Turkey, including the determination of supply chains and actions to prevent further production or sale of counterfeit goods. Melis assists during seizures and criminal lawsuits for infringing products.
Melis advises clients with intellectual property issues across a range of sectors, including fashion, food, and beverage, information technologies, retail and consumer products, medicine and health, industrial and manufacturing.
