Chambers & Partners recognized Moroğlu Arseven in five practice areas for its 2017 European Awards, also acknowledging six individual team members for their work across a diverse range of practice areas. The 2017 rankings see Moroğlu Arseven rise to Band 1 for Intellectual Property, as well as move up to Band 3 for Corporate and M&A matters. The firm is ranked in Band 4 for Dispute Resolution, Band 3 for TMT, as well as receives recognition for its Employment work. Orçun Çetinkaya rises individually to Tier 3 for his work in dispute resolution.

Awards for five key practice areas

In 2017, Moroğlu Arseven rises to Band 1 for Intellectual Property, with Chambers & Partners noting the “highly esteemed team rises in the rankings on the back of considerable positive client feedback.” One client commented on the firm’s “responsiveness, clear, precise advice and ability to communicate quickly and clearly.” Another intellectual property client commented that “they provide pragmatic, to-the-point advice and really understand the issues at stake for clients.” Chambers & Partners particularly noted that client sources agreed the firm offers good value for money, with one source stressing that “they deliver on time and do the work efficiently.”

The firm also rises to Band 3 for Corporate and M&A work, with Chambers& Partners particularly commenting on “excellent feedback” from M&A clients, combined with the firm’s “extensive corporate advisory service”. Clients described the firm as “a business partner that provides a high-quality legal service” with partners who are “focused on the interest of our companies and proactive in addressing potential issues and needs, which they bring to our attention in a proactive manner while making suggestions and offering flexible solutions.“ Chambers & Partners also noted the team draws client praise for its broad expertise and “collaborative approach“, with one client saying “they have a great group of people with experts on all legal areas, so when we need help they always have someone with the relevant expertise.

Chambers & Partners continues to rank the firm in Band 3 for Telecommunications, Media, and Technology, with researchers commenting that the “experienced team” assists clients with a “wide range of IT and telecoms issues, including a significant practice in advising start-ups and entrepreneurs” which is “supported by key strength in IP and corporate mandates”. Clients commented on the firm’s efficiency and pragmatic approach: “They grasp the nature of our business and our needs quickly and the advice we received has combined the commercial and the legal in a very helpful way.” One client described the firm as “very disciplined and systematic at all levels, which creates a high level of trust. I have never seen them miss any deadlines.”

Moroğlu Arseven continues to be ranked in Band 4 for Dispute Resolution, with Chambers & Partners commenting on the firm’s “expanding team” which “offers a broad contentious practice”. It particularly noted the firm’s “notable services to Turkish and international corporate clients seeking to defend their interests in shareholder, distributorship and employment issues.” One related client described Moroğlu Arseven as “a commercially minded, young and dynamic firm with strong market contacts.” A dispute resolution client commented to Chambers & Partners that “the work is very detailed; they are meticulous and very professional in what they do. They are always motivated and pushing to deliver solutions to our problems.”

Six team members receive Individual recognition

Işık Özdoğan, LL.M., leading Moroğlu Arseven’s intellectual property practice, continues to receive top recognition and be personally ranked in Band 1 for Intellectual Property in Turkey. She is recognized in the Chambers & Partners’ European awards for the fifth year in a row. The research notes that Işık “remains a market leader for trade marks, patents and domain name issues”, as well as being “highly regarded for advising clients from the fashion, retail and beverage sectors on industrial designs and counterfeit goods.” Chambers & Partners reports that sources were delighted that “the quality of her analysis was always first-rate, as were her responsiveness and creativity.”

Orçun Çetinkaya, LL.M., improves his individual ranking to Band 3 for Dispute Resolution matters in Turkey. Chambers & Partners noted that the promotion comes in response to “excellent feedback from clients”, who describe him as a “personable and knowledgeable” practitioner, “with a keen understanding of the Turkish disputes market.” The research makes particular comment of Orçun’s advice to “an impressive list of international clients on their commercial and contractual disputes.”

Dr. E. Seyfi Moroğlu, LL.M., maintains his ranking in Band 4 for Corporate and M&A matters in Turkey, recognized in the European Awards for the third year in a row. Chambers & Partners particularly notes that Seyfi is lauded as “one of the most prominent theorists on corporate law matters in Turkey.” The research also comments that he “has significant experience in transactional work, and is particularly well placed to assist German clients with cross-border deals with Turkey.”

Burcu Tuzcu Ersin, LL.M., maintains her ranking in Band 4 for Corporate and M&A matters in Turkey, recognized for the fourth year in a row. Chambers & Partners noted her “experience advising Turkish conglomerates and international investors on both transactional and corporate counselling matters.” Clients describe Burcu as a “wonderful” practitioner who “is easy to communicate with” and “can make the most complicated legal issues easy for us to understand.”

Gökçe İzgi, LL.M., is noted again by Chambers & Partners as “Up and Coming” for her work in Intellectual Property. The research noted that client sources describe Gökçe as “reliable, quick, and provides high-quality advice.” Chambers & Partners makes particular note of Gökçe’s advice on trade mark prosecutions, patent, design issues, domain names and unfair competition matters, alongside the seizure procedures for counterfeit goods.

Ezgi Baklacı, LL.M., is recognized as “Up and Coming” for her work in Intellectual Property. The research reports that Ezgi’s clients praised her for “her business-focused approach, which is super-helpful.” Chambers & Partners makes particular note of Ezgi’s advice on trade mark prosecution mandates, patent litigation, industrial design and domain name issues, as well as advising brand owners with anti-counterfeiting programmes.
