With the Law numbered 7226 (“the Law”) published in the Official Gazette number 31080 and dated 26 March 2020, Turkey introduced a legal provision that the financial liabilities and/or declarations regulated in the Mining Law numbered 3213 can be postponed and these financial liabilities can be paid in installments by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in case of force majeure.

In this context, it has been regulated that force majeure must be known by public or can be proved by the concerned persons for implementation of this provision.

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has the right to declare a force majeure and to determine which financial liabilities will not be fulfilled during this period.

The relevant regulation is applicable as of 1 January 2020.
