Moroğlu Arseven Partner, Burcu Tuzcu Ersin, spoke during the inaugural ScaleX Day, hosted by ScaleXVentures on 20 November 2016 at Kolektif House in Istanbul. The event focused on scaled start-ups seeking internationalization or successful exits. Burcu discussed legal aspects and considerations for successful internationalized and globalized start-ups. T. İş Bankası was the main sponsor of the event and Moroğlu Arseven lined up among the other very creditable supporting sponsors.

The event was attended by more than 100 people from the Turkish start-up ecosystem, on an invite-only basis, as well as leading figures from the industry and professional advisors.

Key professional advisory speakers during the day included:

  • Dilek Dayınlarlı (Founder, ScaleXVentures), moderating panels and giving insights on internationalization strategies for scale-ups.
  • Burcu Tuzcu Ersin (Partner, Moroğlu Arseven), discussing legal considerations and key legal areas affecting decision making process while entering into other international markets.
  • Burcu Canpolat (Partner, PwC Turkey), discussing commonly applied international tax structures for scaling businesses and planning exits.

The ScaleX Day also involved a dedicated session from world renowned Prof. William Kerr from Harvard Business School. Prof Kerr discussed the stages of international entrepreneurship, including challenges for transforming a local startup idea into a global one.
