The Anti-corruption Toolkit for Small and Medium-sized Companies was commissioned by the G20 and the B20 to help SMEs around the world to identify and combat corruption. This practical resource has now been published and can be accessed here. The Toolkit was designed for SMEs with limited time, resource, or prior knowledge about corruption. However, the resource may also be useful for larger companies as well.

The Toolkit addresses key questions about corruption, providing practical information and examples to assist SMEs to understand the issues as well as implement effective solutions. These topics include defining the many forms of corruption and grey areas, meeting demands of international partners, protecting SMEs, resisting corruption, accessing training and further information, as well as how SMEs can help in the wider fight against corruption. The Toolkit will be adapted into different languages over time, as well as address local legislative and regulatory requirements. The first localized version of the Toolkit is expected to be released in Turkey.

The Toolkit was created during Turkey’s 2015 G20 presidency and authored by IBLF Global and Türkiye Etik ve İtibar Derneği (Turkish Ethics and Reputation Society). Moroğlu Arseven is proud to contribute to developing this resource, receiving specific acknowledgment from the authors for its contribution as a content provider. Particular support was given by Burcu Tuzcu Ersin and Bora İkiler, who will continue to be involved in the project as members of the Advisory Council.

The G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group is a standing committee of the G20, established in 2010. Its work is guided by two-year action plans. These include commitments by G20 countries to ratify and implement the United Nations Convention against Corruption, criminalize and prosecute foreign bribery, and cooperate with other countries to investigate, prosecute and return the proceeds of corruption. More information can be found on the G20 website.

The B20 Anti-Corruption Task Force is a platform which brings together business leaders from G20 economies, advocating for issues which are critical for enterprises. The B20’s principal task is to facilitate exchanges between business communities from different countries and to develop consensus around critical issues. A number of Task Forces make recommendations to the G20 leadership each year, including the Anti-Corruption Task Force. More information about the Task Force can be found on the B20 Turkey website.
