An overview of notable decrees by the Council of Ministers and communiqués by the Ministry of Economy regarding prevention of unfair competition in imports, made during March 2017.
Expiry Review Investigation Launched Into Anti-Dumping Duty on Chinese Air Conditioners
Arçelik-LG Klima San. ve Tic. A.Ş. and Vestel Beyaz Eşya San. ve Tic. A.Ş. requested an expiry revision investigation be initiated into imports from China of:
- “wall type split air conditioners” under tariff code 10.90.00.00.
- “outdoor units of wall type split air conditioners” under tariff code 90.00.90.11.
- “indoor units of wall type split air conditioners” under tariff code90.00.90.12.
The request was made on the grounds that terminating the current anti-dumping to continue and repeat the related damage.
Accordingly, an investigation was initiated by the Communiqué on Unfair Competition Prevention in Imports numbered 2017/8, published in Official Gazette number 30014 on 21 March 2017. Please see this link for the full text of the relevant Communiqué (only available in Turkish).
Anti-Dumping Duty on United States Paper Imports Will Continue with Amendments
The Import General Directorate of the Ministry initiated an expiry revision investigation into Unleavened Craft Paper imports. It decided to continue existing definitive measures, with some amendments.
Accordingly, definitive measures will continue for “Unleavened craft paper” imported from the United States of America, classified under tariff codes 4804.11.90.10.11, 4804.11.90.10.12 and 4804.11.90.10.13, with the amended rates below.
The scope of the measures is also extended to include “Unleavened craft paper under 175 gram”, in order to maintain the measures’ effectiveness against imports by decreasing export prices.
The Communiqué on Unfair Competition Prevention in Imports numbered 2017/1 (“Communiqué”) was published in Official Gazette number 30000 on 7 March 2017.
Accordingly, the anti-dumping duty will continue at these rates:
