Inspection reports on cosmetics and biocidal products belonging to the fourth quarter of 2021 have been published by the Vice Presidency of Inspection Services of the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency.

Notable matters stated in the report are as follows:

  • The 2021 cosmetic inspections were carried out especially for the detection of products contrary to technical regulations. In this context, 550 cosmetic products were inspected. Accordingly, 392 of them products were found to be not in compliance with the technical regulations and 3 of them were detected as unsafe products.
  • A total fine of TRY 280,000 was imposed due to incompliance with technical regulations. 853 counterfeit/smuggled perfumes of which the manufacturer could not be determined were declared as unsafe products and destroyed.
  • Biocidal product inspections in 2021 were carried out especially taking into account the Covid-19 pandemic, with the aim of detecting unlicensed products.
  • A total of 48 Type-1 and Type-19 biocidal products were inspected. Accordingly, it was detected that 37 of them were unlicensed and 9 of them were not in compliance with the technical regulations. A total of TRY 1,480,000 administrative fine was imposed due to incompliance with technical regulations.
