Turkish Medicine and Medical Devices Agency (“TMMDA”) has published two announcements concerning the market surveillance and inspection activities by the Department of Cosmetic Products (“Department”) from the beginning of July until the end of September 2023 with regard to the cosmetic products (“Announcement 1”) and type-1 and type-19 biocidal products in direct contact with the human body (“Announcement 2”).
According to the Announcement 1:
- 61 cosmetic products were inspected;
- 5 products are classified as compatible with the regulation;
- 56 products are classified as non-compatible with the regulation;
- 1 product is classified as medically compromised;
- 55 products are classified as non-compatible with the technical regulation and,
- Monetary fine amounting to TL 214.050- is imposed.
It is also stated that a total of 35.763 counterfeit/illicit perfume and creme, whose manufacturers could not be determined, are classified as medically compromised, and the decision for their extermination is taken pursuant to the Cosmetics Law No. 5324.
According to the Announcement 2:
- 22 type-1 and type-2 biocidal products were inspected;
- 13 products are classified as non-compatible with the regulation;
- 6 product is classified as medically compromised;
- 7 products are classified as non-compatible with technical regulation and,
- Monetary fine amounting to TL 583.898- is imposed.
Information with regard to the six medically-compromised products is added to the list of medically-comprised biocidal products on the TMMDA’s website.
