DR. Z. ERTUNÇ ŞİRİN, MA

Z. Ertunç Şirin graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1995, earned his Master’s degree in 1999 and his PhD in 2005 from Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences in the field of fiscal law.

He is particularly specialized in tax law, customs law, administrative law, and procurement law, as well as private law projects and disputes in which these areas are in relation. 

Additionally, he is engaged in compliance, including the import regime, product liability, capital market obligations, anti-corruption, commercial fraud, prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism, employee misconduct, corporate governance, and director’s and officer’s obligations.

He advises on a wide range of regulatory compliance matters, from reviewing existing compliance practices to localizing, structuring and implementing compliance programs, from anti-bribery investigations to sensitive and high-risk internal investigations into employee misconduct and fraud. He also has experience in managing disputes arising from regulatory compliance matters.

Following his graduation, he started his academic career as a research assistant at Istanbul University Faculty of Law, Department of Fiscal Law, and continued his academic activities until his retirement in 2023. During his nearly thirty years of academic career, he has taught undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses and supervised theses and dissertations in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs at both Istanbul University Faculty of Law and other universities such as Türk Alman University, Bahçeşehir University, Kültür University, as well as conducting various scientific projects and scientific board memberships.

He has appeared before the Istanbul Courts (civil and administrative), and has also qualified as an expert witness in various arbitration proceedings.

He has published one book, authored various book chapters along with numerous articles and papers.
